KCOMM

January 2026

Greetings, *|FNAME|*!

As we kick off 2026, we’re energized by the momentum already building across KCOMM and our broader New Frontier community. January has brought meaningful leadership milestones, new thought leadership resources, and powerful conversations at the intersection of innovation and policy. Here’s a look at what’s shaping the start of the year.

Hosting Omar Pimentel
at the Pacific Club

Earlier this month, we had the privilege of hosting Omar Pimentel at the Pacific Club for an intimate gathering of New Frontier innovators across space, defense, and emerging technology. We’re grateful to our partners at Type One Ventures for the introduction and to the International Executive Council and New Majority, Orange County for a strong turnout.

Omar serves as Policy and Strategy Lead for the Space Portfolio at the Defense Innovation Unit, where he works at the intersection of commercial space and national security. His keynote explored the rapid rise of the space economy and the wave of innovation it’s unlocking across national defense, exploration, research, and energy.

One theme resonated throughout the conversation and extended Q&A: curiosity. As Omar noted, it’s the fundamental driver behind the space industry — and one shared by every innovator in the room.

Omar also shared a reading list with the group, including:

Space to Grow by Weinzierl and Rosseau

Escaping Gravity by Lori Garver

When the Heavens Went on Sale by Ashlee Vance

Liftoff by Eric Berger

UnitX by Raj Shah and Chris Kirchhoff

Carrying the Fire by Michael Collins

Leadership Update:
Stefanie Speed Promoted to President of Public Relations

We’re proud to share that Stefanie Speed has been promoted to President of Public Relations at KCOMM. Stefanie’s leadership has played a central role in our firm’s continued growth and evolution, particularly as we expand deeper into complex and highly regulated industries.

With more than 15 years of experience spanning quantum computing, healthcare, finance, artificial intelligence, and real estate, Stefanie is known for her ability to translate complex innovation into clear, credible narratives. Her approach to PR emphasizes substance over hype, helping clients build trust, anticipate regulatory and market shifts, and support long-term growth.

In her new role, Stefanie will oversee KCOMM’s public relations department, guide integrated communications strategy, and continue expanding our work across emerging and frontier industries. As KCOMM marks its 30th year in business — having served more than 2,000 clients — her leadership will be instrumental in shaping what’s next.
