Hosting Academic Leadership at UCI
|
|
 |
| |
KCOMM recently hosted a private lunch with two of academia’s most respected leaders and valued partners.
Dr. Frank LaFerla, Distinguished Professor and Dean of the Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences at UCI, continues to elevate the school’s national standing through expanded faculty recruitment, increased research funding, and groundbreaking work in Alzheimer’s disease research. Under his leadership, the school recently received a transformational $50 million gift, further strengthening its impact across the life sciences.
The School of Biological Sciences — one of UCI’s founding academic units — remains a global leader in research spanning disease biology, ecology, evolution, and organismal behavior. Its interdisciplinary approach prepares students for careers across medicine, biotech, conservation, and research.
Joining the discussion was Dr. Mark Lazenby, Dean of the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing. An advanced practice nurse and philosopher, Dr. Lazenby leads one of the nation’s most forward-thinking nursing programs, integrating social, racial, and environmental determinants of health into both research and clinical training. The school’s state-of-the-art simulation labs are preparing nurse leaders to meet the complex health challenges of the future.
We are proud to support these institutions and to bring our network into conversations shaping the future of healthcare, research, and innovation.

Hosting Turning Point USA Leadership at the Command Center
This month, Sinan and his family opened the KCOMM Command Center to host the leadership of Turning Point USA for a private evening with more than 60 leaders across venture capital, national security, media, and enterprise business.
The discussion explored culture, media, generational leadership, and political durability — including recent national announcements and Turning Point’s expanding influence among Gen Z audiences.
Sinan led a focused conversation with Turning Point leadership around long-term priorities, voter engagement strategy heading into the mid-terms, and the organization’s 2–4 year outlook.
The evening also highlighted the support of several KCOMM hospitality partners and portfolio companies, reinforcing the strength of our broader ecosystem.
For KCOMM, these gatherings are about more than politics. They are about investing in leadership, entrepreneurship, national strength, and building institutions that serve the next generation.
